Why are iPhone photos in HEIC format?

Apple introduced HEIC (High Efficiency Image Coding) as the default camera format because it compresses photos to roughly half the size of JPG while maintaining the same quality.

Will quality be lost during conversion?

The Quality slider controls JPEG compression. At 90% or above the result is visually indistinguishable from the original. Lower values reduce file size.

Can I convert multiple photos at once?
